Linux Mint XFCE to KDE plasma script

By FcTheTop

DISCLAMER:

The autor of the script isn't responsible for any damage to the OS, or any other type of problem. I'M NOT AFILIATED WITH LINUX MINT DEVELOPER TEAM! This was a personal project that could be useful to someone. ONLY FOR LINUX MINT XFCE CLEAN INSTALL

WHAT DOES IT DO?

  • Removes FWUPD (firmware update deamon)
  • Updates the system
  • Install KDE plasma 5.27 (latest version in LTS of Ubuntu)
  • Install some useful apps (kdeconnect, kget, vlc, audacious, ark, partitionmanager, neofetch, htop, fish, terminator)
  • Set fish as default shell

HOW TO USE:

  1. Download an official ISO and do the classic installation of linux mint xfce;
  2. Download those two scripts or use git to clone them;
  3. CHECK THE SCRIPTS! NEVER RUN RANDOM CODE, ALWAYS CHECK THEM.
  4. Make the scripts executable with chmod +x ./[name-of-script];
  5. Run the main script as a normal user, it will ask you sudo privileges after;
  6. Answer the questions during the process and select SDDM as login manager.
  7. Wait until reboot
  8. Execute the second script to remove XFCE

SDDM THEMING

Default SDDM theme isn't so good.. Schermata_20251112_221328 So you can change it in system settings → startup and shutdown → SDDM → (3 dots) download more themes then select your favorite one, then apply.
