Handler fails with retries=0

Problem

Any @kopf.on.create handlers i run with retries=0 i get the below error:
[2025-08-24 12:22:38,547] kopf.objects [ERROR ] [default/pam-dev-elantil-test] Handler 'create_fn' failed permanently: Handler 'create_fn' has exceeded 0 retries. [2025-08-24 12:22:38,547] kopf.objects [INFO ] [default/pam-dev-elantil-test] Creation is processed: 0 succeeded; 1 failed.

If i remove retries or set retries to > 0 all works fine. Is this normal behaviour and why ?
