empty wheel on debian after build

this python3 -m build --wheel --no-isolation gives an empty wheel...

same bug in mov-cli mov-cli/mov-cli#150

can't reproduce this on my Debian 11 VM

i'm on Debian 12, it seams to be the same problem with mov-cli, probably the same solution.
It builds correctly with ".git" present, without it it's empty (releases).

still works on the release tarball on Debain 11, so its Probably a Debian 12 issue, maybe stemming from poetry?

not sure if I can do something on this end, but I will keep the issue open
