[qemu, test] coremark qemu test failed

Description

I am trying the run the test with

bazel test //third_party/coremark/top_earlgrey:coremark_test_sim_qemu_rom_with_fake_keys

But it seems that this test is failed now.

Can I just check, are you trying to run this from the master branch or from the earlgrey_1.0.0 branch? I've tried running it locally and can see it passing on earlgrey_1.0.0, but failing on master.

The current OpenTitan QEMU implementation only supports the HW in earlgrey_1.0.0 and does not contain support for the "moving" Earlgrey target on master. See relevant QEMU docs here and here. As a result, it is expected that QEMU will not emulate tests correctly on master. Also note that the Bazel QEMU integration on earlgrey_1.0.0 currently only supports Earlgrey and is not multi-top aware (no Darjeeling support) currently.

Thanks for replying and the information about qemu. Turn out this info was hidden in this link. You known as I search the opentitan docs all is about this link https://opentitan.org/book/, and there is nothing about qemu.

Actually, as you mentioned I run the test on master branch. I will switch to earlgrey_1.0.0 branch for testing. And is there any plan for updating the qemu model?

At the moment the QEMU documentation is an active work-in-progress and is only available in the earlgrey_1.0.0 branch (which is not directly visible at https://opentitan.org/book). It would probably be worth merging the QEMU documentation to the master branch so that it is easier to find from the docs.

And is there any plan for updating the qemu model?

There is no active effort to support a QEMU model for the moving master Earlgrey target due to the upkeep required to constantly keep QEMU emulation up-to-date with the latest hardware changes. You could try manually making such a version by modifying QEMU and using the documented manual override, but I suspect it would be a fair bit of work to get going.
