The documentation doesn't explain where the Display Name comes from

The documentation talks about "full list of supported labels". You can see here that the label is the categoryName from the Category interface. If you open a model with a text editor, say, efficientdet_lite0, you will even find all the labels after labels.txt with a quick search, by the end of the file.

However, nothing is mentioned about the displayName. It seems like a model doesn't always have it, and if it does, the documentation doesn't explain how it shows up in the model file. Would it be a list called "displayNames.txt" for example like the labels?

Also is it possible to extract the supported labels and display names from the VisionGraphRunner itself?

Hi @marcusx2,

Apologies for the delayed response, the displayName comes from the label files in the metadata, but with a locale filter, where each label file has type = TENSOR_AXIS_LABELS an optional locale field, like 'en', 'es','fr' etc.

So when you create a task with display_names_locale by default its 'en' and the categoryName is filled from the first label file regardless of locale then the displayName is filled from the label file whose locale matches the display_names_locale that is stated explicitly for several tasks (audio/text) like the first label file is used for category_name and the locale-matching one for display_name

That’s why in many official models you never see displayName set at all.
