On some Samsung devices mask doesn't prevent user input

On some Samsung devices when user inputs last digits he can continue to input this digits. Such digits won't be shown at the EditText but will be added to the "autocomplete current word" and when you try to press backspace, it will remove symbols from "autocomplete current word" until you reach the input from the EditText.

For example, you input AA-0000-000000, then you keep pressing 0 5 times. The EditText will still show AA-0000-000000, but autosuggestion will show AA-0000-00000000000 and when you try to backspace it, you have to remove 5 symbols from the suggestion, before the backspace will work.

I'm sorry for the delay, you caught me in the middle of my trip.

I'll need some additional time to investigate this issue as I don't possess any Samsung devices right now. My preliminary advice is to try disabling predictive text for your field.

I'll come back to you with the results of my investigation as they come.

Okay so I've finished my research.

Autosuggestion (T9) has its own text buffer for each field. Each time you apply changes with your software keyboard, your edit happens within this buffer. Then, the text within the EditText field is actually replaced with the contents of the T9 buffer. At this moment it gets cut by the MaskedTextChangedListener, but this cut doesn't affect the T9 buffer.

This happens on all Android devices, Samsung included.

Right now, I don't have a clue how to deal with this T9 buffer correctly. I'm going to add this scenario as a known issue, but I'll try to resolve this case later.

I think you are safe to disable predictive text as long as it's not a phone field or some personal info.
